Rajasthan Royals Recent Form

If proof was needed that the Royals are a really good side capable of winning the IPL for the first time since its inaugural edition, just look at their win over RCB earlier in the week.

After a rare failure from Orange Cap owner Jos Buttler and few contributions from the top order, it was left to Riyan Parag- who had had a really quiet tournament so far- to come up with an excellent 56 off 31 of great maturity, knowing every run was priceless and not taking many risked until the final over.

The strategy was spot on because the 145 they posted proved to be more than enough.

ittedly, RCB contributed to their own downfall with poor shots and in the case of Dinesh Karthik, a horrible run-out.

But it still took a really good effort with the ball from the likes of Ravi Ashwin and Kuldeep Sen to win the game and that they did so without another big knock from Buttler shows they have many strings to their bow.

Mumbai Indians’ Recent Form

What a surprise.

Mumbai lost yet another game and it’s now mathematically impossible for them to make the playoffs. That’s why you won’t find them listed in the IPL winner market.

Last time out it was Lucknow who got the better of them, thanks to another KL Rahul century.

He scored two in two against Mumbai which tells you a lot of what you need to know about their bowling.

Not that their batting has been much better. On a good wicket, no-one got to 50.

Venue & conditions

We haven’t been at the DY Patil Stadium in a while.

But we haven’t forgotten this is the toughest of the pitches to bat on.

In the last two matches here, Gujarat posted 156 to beat KKR by eight runs and CSK chased 155 off the last ball to beat…Mumbai.

So you’d think the par score would again be around the 155-160 mark.

Get it batting first and you’re very much in the game but it can also be chased. A total near to that should give us another close game with a tight finish.
